The Balvenie 12Yrs Double Wood single malt whisky 2023 VAP pack ( Free Whisky Glass )

DoubleWood 12 was introduced in 1993, using a process invented in 1982 by our Malt Master David Stewart and now known as ‘wood finishing.’

David Stewart MBE transfers whisky that has aged for at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American oak ex-bourbon barrels, and hogsheads and moves it to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months to make The Balvenie DoubleWood.

The whisky is then transferred to large oak vessels known as “tuns” for three to four months to allow the whiskies from individual casks to “marry.”

The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky gets its distinct flavour from being aged in two different types of wood. Each stage contributes unique characteristics to the finished single malt whisky.

The traditional casks soften and add delicate character, the sherry wood adds depth and fullness of flavour, and the whiskies marry harmoniously in our tuns for the final few months.
