BALDUZZI Carmenere Red Wine
RM79.00
Chilean Carmenere, a delicious but lesser-known grape varietal, produces fantastically beautiful, medium-bodied, fruit-forward wines. On the nose and palate, expect berries, red fruits, spice, smokiness, and earth, with gentle tannins and deep crimson colours.
If you’re into collecting, keep in mind that Carmenere is best enjoyed within the first two years of bottling.
Carmenere, originally from southwest Bordeaux, France, has found a welcoming home in central Chile. Carmenere is now grown all over the world, but the best versions are thought to come from Chile. Carmenere is still grown in France, albeit in small quantities.
Carmenere and Merlot are very similar. Indeed, until recently, Chilean winemakers mistook Carmenere for Merlot.
