Agwa De Bolivia Coca Leaf Liqueur

RM181.00

Agwa de Bolivia is a herbal liqueur distilled and produced in Amsterdam by BABCO Europe Limited from Bolivian coca leaves and 37 other natural herbs and botanicals such as green tea, ginseng, and guarana. The coca leaf content of the drink, like that of Coca-Cola, is devoid of cocaine alkaloids and does not contain the drug.

The AGWA brand claims a long history of honouring traditional Bolivian coca leaf liqueurs, the first of which was produced in Bologna in 1820 by the De Medici family. However, the coca leaf had been used by the native South American population for thousands of years prior to this. However, they mostly chewed the leaf; in comparison, the production of alcoholic beverages was more limited. In anecdotal accounts, these older variants of the liqueur were enjoyed by many, including Rudyard Kipling, who described the drink as being made “from the clippings and shavings of angels’ wings.” AGWA claims to be continuing the long-standing tradition of coca leaf-infused liquor.
